Mark Harris is an artist, curator and writer, recently appointed Director of the School of Art at The University of Cincinatti, Ohio. Diverse approaches to making artwork are linked by an interest in the imaginary of intoxication and its role as a form of utopian representation where it functions as an alternative to the strategies of the historical avant-garde. Exhibitions at Trans Hudson Gallery NYC, The Economist Building, London with Carmel Buckley, and “Wall of Sound” with Jem Fisher, at Trans Hudson in 1996; Get Together, at Kunsthalle, Wien collaboration with Joseph Kosuth, and Dream Machines at Camden Arts Centre, London. Among his publications are articles in Miser and Now, NY Arts, ARTicle Press, Make magazine, as well as regular contributing criticism in journals including Art Monthly.
