Steve Argüelles

Steve Argüelles is Anglo-Catalan and lives in France. He is a drummer, percussionist, record producer and founder of his own label, Plush. In the 1980s Argüelles was playing with Loose Tubes and Human Chain with Django Bates. Two of his formative points of reference are the pianist John Taylor and the late South African saxophonist Dudu Pukwana, who both offered and gave invaluable lessons on the bandstand. Further musical collaborations occurred with Mose Allison, Alex Balanescu, Steve Lacy, Slim Galliard, Charlie Mariano, Lee Konitz and others. More recently, from his base in Paris, Arguelles has worked extensively with The Recyclers, Dhaffer Youssef and Omar Sosa. Artists Arguelles has played with and recorded on his Plush label include Ambitronix, Benoît Delbecq, DJ Req, Ashley Slater, Marc Chalosse, Domenico Ferrari, DJ Nem, Tagomago and Roderick Packe.
