NARBEN / SCARS Art Project © 2008 Franz Wassermann in cooperation with the Association for the Protection of Children (Kinderschutz) Tyrol www.mylivingroom.org Violence and the abuse of children and adolescents is a taboo. To counter this taboo, the Innsbruck artist Franz Wassermann, in cooperation with the Association for the Protection of Children (Verein Kinderschutz) Tyrol and its child protection centers, developed the project NARBEN/SCARS. An artistic realization facilitates an approach to this theme. The child protection centers make their expertise available for this project, while the artist uses a form of realization that includes those affected, but rejects voyeurism. Seeking: Toys or other personal objects from those affected! On 1 October 2008 Franz Wassermann launches an appeal to the public. Victims of violence and abuse, children as well as adults, are requested to give the artist a personal object to use. This may be a cuddly toy, a security blanket, a toy or other personal object that is given away to the art project voluntarily and anonymously. Then objects then represent those affected and their fate without revealing their identity. The protection of the victims is an essential component of the art project. The anonymous donation of objects is possible until 15 November 2008: Ð at the Kinderschutzzentrum (Child Protection Center) Innsbruck, Schšpfstra§e 19, 6020 Innsbruck (building in inner courtyard) NARBEN/SCARS is created in cooperation with the Association for the Protection of Children (Kinderschutz) Tyrol. Further cooperation partners are: Gewaltschutzzentrum Tirol, Kriseninterventionszentrum fŸr Kinder und Jugendliche (KIZ), Verein gegen Vergewaltigung, Tiroler Frauenhaus. The art project is supported by the City of Innsbruck, the Federal Province of Tyrol, the public transportation authority of Innsbruck, Tirol TV, Artdepot and Agentur Morgenrot.
