on archival practices

the museum of christmas

the clear understanding of here and now, makes for re-thinking, re-framing and replacing old intentions and histories
the out-of place collection has been central to, or placed within, either in its entirety or as a small component part of, art exhibitions since 2002
as i remember it began in two places
bethnal green public library in 1996 at the purchase of the record, 'christmas at home' and
portsmouth, in 1999, at the purchase of a box of used christmas tree decorations

the archival-like process using photographic slides is to be regarded as both the conclusion of the work and the manner through which it is best experienced
the colours in the darkness
images projected bigger than life
the equality

each thing is categorised and placed, seen, titled and measured as an exhibit, and for no other purpose
